The world of orthodontics is constantly evolving as newer and newer technologies and methods are developed. Aerodentis is a new invention, and is a removable aligner that can fix a very wide array of orthodontic problems. It utilizes several recent advances made in orthodontic treatment, like the use of pulsating force instead of constant force, and the removable aligner, which it is based on.
Aerodentis is unfortunately not yet available at Forest& Ray but it is a very interesting new development that is definitely worth a look!
What is it?
The aerodentis is a removable aligner that has a balloon of sorts in it. It is placed over the teeth, and the balloon is inflated periodically with a machine, that pushes the teeth in a way that is more in tune with the body’s natural rhythm than to apply constant force. The machine and the aligner are connected via a small tube.
How does it work?
Your dentist will set the machine, programming the required amount of force and the length of the cycles to your individual needs. The force can be increased or decreased based on how you respond to treatment. You have to have the aligner in your mouth for at least 10 hours a day. The recommended best time to do this is while you sleep, as you are not doing much else during these hours, and because your body reacts best to treatment while it is resting. The machine makes use of pulsating physiological force, which can treat and align teeth much quicker than using constant force.
Benefits
The benefits of this machine is that no one has to know you are undergoing orthodontic treatment, as you will only be using the device in the privacy of your own home. As there is no device to wear and worry about, the usual problems associated with oral health and braces is a nonissue. Since there is no constant force being exerted, the risk of root resorption is completely circumvented. The pulsations are also less stressful for the bod and mimic the natural rhythms of the human body thereby it causes less stress on the wearer.
